Garden's Journal

After a long day watching my son's 3 basketball games today, at Western Washington University ( Bellingham WA), here I am writing my garden's journal. It becomes a habit of mine to record the progress of my garden, no matter how tired and tight the schedule we have. Not only I would write what's blooming in the garden, I would also take photos of them. It's just easier to remember where they were located and what came back and not. This way I can plan what to plant for next season.

Do you also record your seedlings growth or flowers you added in the garden?

Well, as much as I like to post a lot of stories of each of my flowers, I can't do it tonight... I'm too tired and there's more work to do in the house... so let's make this one short for now.

Here's the Garden Journal photos taken May 27 at 7:45PM. Click the image to take you to my journal and open the album "Garden View 2007".

Well Folks I only have a short time to post, so see you next time.

~May Flowers in my Garden~

The spring weather for us has been wet and cold, a little unusual for month of May, and the flowers are a bit slow in growing. It's still scary to plant the seedlings outside. I think I'll wait til next weekend to be safe.

It was so rainy today that I didn't get to do any gardening. I just viewed them from my window and I'm happy enough. Anyways we were busy watching basketball game at my son's school. He wasn't playing this time but was helping keeping score and reffing. We got home late at 6PM and after dinner, we dashed off to the Grouse Grind at Grouse Mountain. Tried to be there before they close the gate at 7:30PM.... well we got there at 7. And did our hike for an hour, while my son went ahead and did his 36 minutes only. My daughter wasn't feeling good but wanted to come so she took the gondola up, for 8 minutes. The rain didn't stop us. A little nut idea but we did it. You can check this site if ever you're interested of doing this when you visit Vancouver. It's got a beautiful panorama view of Vancouver.

Spring is such a busy month for the gardeners. I cleaned up my outdoor furnitures and scrubbed my lattice. Hubby power washed the fence and drive way. I pruned my roses, fertilized them and bug sprayed them with my homemade solution. I'm not very good yet in looking after my roses. But this is what I make to get

Rid of aphids :

1/2tsp baking soda in 2quarts of water and a few drops of liquid soap.

If you have more other formula or recipes for getting rid of roses problems, such as black spots and rust, pls share them with me. I have one climbing rose that is so fussy, it always gets black spots and would lose its leaves, but then it will continue to flower for me.

Month of May is also an exciting month in my town we have May Day celebration, held every first week of May. There are fun activities at the park and there's a May Day parade. Town's flowerbeds are all dressed up with flowers and the lamp posts were decorated with Banners, made by selected students from our school district. And my daughter was one of them that got picked to design a banner. And here's her contribution for the festivity.

Two students were choosen from her school.

The theme was about, boats, birds and booms. I thought it was neat that they let young students do the drawings and paintings.

I also took some pictures last week before the rain came and here u can view them my May flowers. Plus the gifts I got from Mother's day.

My very first orchid.

Pure White

From my thoughtful kids.

From my loving honey.

They first took me to a garden center and I got to pick my flowers. Then at lunch they took me out to a Japanese restaurant and we went to my mother in law's place for dinner, and other relatives were there too. It was a nice day for me.

Thanks again viewers for stopping by. And I hope all the moms had a very nice day last weekend.
